Long Exposures …

… I think have to be my favourite kind of photography, preferably early morning by the sea … with a beautiful sky and colours blossoming from just before dawn to sunrise … it’s a big wish !

I can probably easily recall the times when all those conditions have come together and they’ve mainly been on trips to Cornwall but not exclusively. Considering the number of times I have visited looking through my files I know it’s actually been quite a rare occasion, but that’s Cornwall for you 😉 and I still LOVE it …

Here’s one of those times when I’ve thought oh yes, ok not ticks in all the boxes but … hey let’s do this again soon 🙂

Wishing you a great weekend !

Thanks so much Pauline ! I needed to give myself a push to get going with it all again.
There’s been more sketching and sploshing happening than ‘proper’ photography adventures for some time for various reasons . I’m very much looking forward to much inspiration on both counts with a trip to Scotland in May all planned 🙂

Good luck with setting up the new style WP. I found it very daunting when I had a year off. Everything had changed so much.

Ah, I love long exposure images, but don’t do them now as my limitations of recent years (depleted manual dexterity and issues with balance) mean that’s no longer possible. But, plenty else I can do, so in the words of Leonard Cohen “Ring the bells that still can ring”

A lovely shot. Been a long while since I was down at Cot Valley and I still cannot for the life of me do long exposures!

Thank you Jude ! It’s lovely there isn’t it, I just thought I’d try for a different composition from others I’ve taken with the large rounded boulder/stones .
I found it took a bit of practice well more than a bit Lol getting the exposure / shutter speed right for the effect I wanted and for these kind of shots used a tripod and timer. Wellyboots are handy too !
There are nice effects to be captured with moving grasses and flowers by just hand holding too but they may not be your thing .

Really beautiful, Poppy. I love the low angle, it puts me there. And I feel your delight and enthusiasm – there’s nothing better than that!

Ah thank you Lynne . You too know the call of the sea , I’d love to live on a smaller island 😉
The delight I think must come partly from feeling I’ve outwitted those waves and managed to keep my tripod steady for the time required as well as that rush and swirl of foamy water around my feet wellies or no !
